With a specialty in public education, Bishop John Williams (NY) started out as a concerned father, getting involved in local school governance issues. Before becoming an elected and/or appointed official on local, regional, and state levels, he served as a community member on a variety of committees, including diversity, financial auditing, safety/security, and buildings ground maintenance.

He is the proud son of the great, late Suffragan Bishop Leon Williams of New York.
